Thought For The Day – Tuesday 25th February 2025
“A Just And Lasting Peace”
Pictured above: “The Steel Heart of Azov”, a commemoration in Sofiiska (or Sophia) Square, Kyiv, Ukraine.
Yesterday marked three years since the invasion of Ukraine.
Those that have: been displaced; sacrificed; suffered; and died were remembered.
And still.
Hopes and ideas were shared, and stated, for “a just and lasting peace”.
“We have heard one phrase quite a lot today: ‘A just and lasting peace’”, began the always excellent and analytical “Sky News” programme, “The World with Yalda Hakim”, last evening.
Peace does not just mean an absence of conflict, invasion and war, absolutely vital though that is.
Peace is deep and holistic.
Peace is equal and inclusive.
Peace connects to empathy, fairness, goodness, harmony, happiness, health, kindness, justice, love, respect and wellbeing.
Peace is both outer and inner, individual and collective.
Peace within. Peace without.
We pray, and practically act, for justice, love, peace and respect locally, nationally and internationally.
And we always remember all who suffer, and have suffered, because of conflict, war and violence.
