TBSHS Students Bring Football Match to Local Care Home

Year 8 boys from TBSHS recently visited Meadowbrook Care Home, to organise and play a football match, providing an afternoon of entertainment, connection, and community spirit for residents and students alike.

The visit was part of the school’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its relationship with the care home, which is located close to TBSHS’ new campus on the St James Park development, and promoting intergenerational engagement. Through initiatives like this, the school aims to foster community cohesion while encouraging students to develop empathy, volunteering habits, and a sense of social responsibility.

Before the match began, students spent time chatting with residents, building meaningful connections across generations. They then moved to the home’s gardens, where the boys showcased their football skills, entertaining residents and staff alike.

Senior Leader Natalie Miles praised the students’ conduct, saying: “Our Year 8 students showed excellent character and respect during their visit. It was wonderful to see the interaction between the generations, and the boys were fantastic ambassadors for the school.”

The initiative reflects the school’s dedication to enriching the wider community and highlights the positive impact young people can have through meaningful engagement with local organisations.
