Salary L12-L16: £59,626 – £65,775
Following the recent promotion of the current post holder to deputy headship in another school, we are seeking to appoint an ambitious, dedicated and highly motivated teacher to join our Senior Leadership Team as an Assistant Headteacher and lead our impressive sixth form from April 2023.
The Head of Sixth Form, supported by 2 deputies, a post-18 advisor and a sixth form admin assistant, leads a large team of experienced tutors and has overall responsibility for all aspects of post-16 education, including: admissions; marketing; enrolment; academic monitoring; conduct; pastoral care and future pathways guidance. Our academic success is well-established with the vast majority of students progressing to university with a number gaining Oxbridge or medicine places each year. Our enrichment programme plays a major part in school life, especially in the sixth form, with great participation and very high standards attained in sport, music, drama, debating and many other activities.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of success, be able to challenge and motivate students, have excellent communication skills and possess strong leadership qualities. As a member of SLT, they will also contribute to the effective running of the whole school.
We were graded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted in March 2017.
Educating 1200 students, The Bishop’s Stortford High School provides a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 and has a thriving co-educational sixth form of 350 students, including over one hundred girls on roll. We have achieved a positive Progress 8 score every year since the measure was introduced, this year it was +0.44, which compares very favourably to a national average for boys of -0.28. At A-Level, we had a 74% A* – B pass rate. We have a strong ethos, based on high expectations and standards for all, a committed and supportive staff who deliver high quality, engaging lessons and well-behaved students with excellent attitudes to learning.
In 2024, we will re-locate to a brand new ‘state of the art’ school on a new site less than half a mile from our current location. This exciting project will provide us with a fantastic new learning environment and sixth-from centre.
