Thought For The Day – Friday 22^nd September 2023

Another brilliant evening. Another wonderful week.

Thank you to all the students who helped the school last night at Prospective Parents’ and Carers’ Evening. 

From the car parkers and musicians, to the numerous tour guides and all the students leading in departments, many students had been at TBSHS a number of years, whilst many students had been at TBSHS just three weeks or just one year.   Student leadership.

Just before nine o’clock last evening, there was one Year 8 student going round asking departments if they needed help tidying up. Another Year 8 student was giving a tour to his friend and his friend’s family at this time.

All those students who helped last night, and all who have helped on these evenings in the past,  did something so enjoyable, precious and valuable for their school and for their own careers, lives and wellbeing.

Last night was the meaning of commitment, aspiration, respect, integrity and community.

Thank you to Mr. Reeve, Mr. Gunn, Mrs. Butler, the Senior and Sixth Form Leadership Teams, Mr. Sadler, Mrs Allen, Mr. Ardin and all the staff across the school for leading this evening, the final Open Evening on our current school site.  

We remember that caretaking, catering, cleaning and office staff play a massive role on this evening, as they do every day, and pay tribute to all staff passionately and skillfully teaching their subject, as they do every day.  We also thank all those students and staff who played a vital role in the school’s success last year and in previous years, including former GCSE and A-Level and vocational students.   

We pay the greatest tribute to parents and carers of current, prospective and past students.

Teamwork makes the dream work.

We hope students have had a good and productive week in and outside of the classroom and school.  Thank you for raising over £2300 for those suffering from the earthquake in Morocco and the floods in Libya.  The week will finish tomorrow, Saturday,  with another superb House Rugby event.

We celebrate and treasure all these positive memories and moments.  They are what life is all about as we look after others and ourselves.

We also humbly think about how we can improve individually and collectively.

Today is Inset Day.  Staff in school will be reflecting on the last year at the school, thinking about what went well, thinking about what we can improve further.   After resting from Open Evening last night, today is a good opportunity for students to reflect on the start made this academic year and what students themselves wish to improve in the 2023/2024 season.
