New School Topping Out Ceremony
Mr Reeve finishes the last section of concrete
This week Headteacher Mr Reeve, Chair of Governors, Alan Fordham, and the Senior Leadership Team from TBSHS, together with members of Hertfordshire County Council, Bishop’s Stortford Mayor, Richard Townsend, and other dignitaries, attended the ‘Topping out’ ceremony at the new site.
Topping out happens when the last section of concrete is laid in a new building. From here on, the build moves to finishing work and internal fitting.
The school build began in September 2021 and was held up for some time by underground water, but is now moving rapidly and is scheduled to be completed in the Summer of 2024.
Mr Reeve said “After significant delay, to have reached the topping-out stage is very exciting. The framework of the new school is finally in place and we can focus on some of the finer details, followed by the logistics involved in relocating the school. I am extremely grateful to all those who have played a part in getting the project to this stage. We know our students get a fantastic deal already, and to have the facilities and learning environment to match will be wonderful.”
