Thought For The Day – Wednesday 9th October 2024
Mental Health
Tomorrow, October 10th, is World Mental Health Day.
October 10th is World Mental Health Day each and every year.
Like all of the awareness days though, every day is world mental health day.
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
Mental health affects, and determines, how we think, feel, and act, including how we respond to challenges and stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.
We all have mental health.
For we all have a mind.
And we all have, or we all will have at some point, challenges to our mental health that life brings.
For sure, some people have very significant mental health challenges, which they have wonderful support for.
There is massive compassion, support and understanding available for all.
We care for, and value, the carers too.
Life is a team game, which values each individual, where we all need each other.
We look after our individual and collective mental health by: looking after our mental, and physical, well-being, through diet, exercise, hydration, relaxation, rest, sleep and staying connected; always being healthy, legal and safe on-line (as well as in person); doing, listening, reading and speaking; being true to our unique personal identity, journey and story; sharing any concerns and worries; looking out, and caring, for others; valuing compassion and vulnerability; trying to stay hopeful and positive in very difficult moments; taking one day at a time; always staying safe; knowing that each of us are more precious, special and valued than absolutely anything; paying it forward and ensuring that everyone is precious, special and valued.
You matter. We matter. Everyone matters. Past, present and future.
So often in life, the greatest and most inspirational resilience is shown by people in vulnerable moments, as emotions, thoughts and feelings are shared.
These moments of the most massive challenge and difficulty reveal the most brilliant, outstanding and wonderful of characters.
Heroes and inspirations are all around us and will always be with us.
The global theme for 2024 is: “It is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace”.
At TBSHS, and beyond, we look after our mental health.
And we look after the mental health of everyone else.
Be kind to your mind.
And be kind to everyone else’s mind.
