Thought For The Day – Thursday 10th October 2024
Time To Shine
Happy P.P.C.E. Day!
P.P.C.E. stands for Prospective Parents’ and Carers’ Evening. This is otherwise known as Open Evening.
This is a great opportunity to showcase “The Black and Gold Spirit”.
This is also an historic evening. This is our first Open Evening in and at our new school.
How quickly a year passes and how much has been achieved in the last few months.
On these great evenings, there is a wonderful buzz around the school as all help all in a common moral purpose.
We create that ambience again tonight.
All schools are proud of their school.
We are proud of ours.
We respect all schools.
We respect ours.
We always thank, and express much appreciation and gratitude to, parents, carers, guardians, nurseries, primary schools and community groups for their formative and vital role.
We stand on their shoulders.
At the very heart of tonight is something outstanding which is at the very heart of every day – student brilliance, engagement, leadership and participation, inspired and supported by the thoughtful and wise care, expertise and enthusiasm of every member of staff in every area of the school.
Everyone brings the energy.
And we all support each other through the days, weeks, months and seasons.
Everyone has an equally important piece of the black and gold jigsaw.
You all have part to play today, in advance of tonight. Before you leave school, after form registration follows Period 4, please ensure you leave every area you use in the school today immaculate, neat and tidy. This will help cleaners and staff after school. Please ensure all bags either are stored in lockers or are taken home. Always remember, you represent yourself, your family and the school at all times, including on the way home, on the bus, on the train and in town. There is school as normal on Friday and students will be expected to be on great form, as usual.
To the many people, staff and students, leading and helping tonight – a massive thank you. This experience provides great communication experience for your life Make sure you know when, and where, you are meeting and registering this evening. Share your story tonight. Communicate the values of the school and what the school does inside and outside the classroom. Be interested in our guests, carers, guardians, parents and students, asking them good questions, including student names. What do our student guests like doing in school and life? Education is both personal and collective. Those visiting the school are the next generation. Their journey begins tonight, just as our journey began once. They are our future and our present. As always, on your way to and from school, please be careful, staying safe and vigilant, bringing a fully charged ‘phone and ensuring safe parental collection and meeting.
We are pumped and ready to go.
Time to shine. Again.
Create memories.
