Thought For The Day – Wednesday 27th September 2023
Active Travel
Thanks to the leadership and organization of Mr. Harvey, and the support of accompanying and supervising staff, there is a great opportunity on Thursday, to do something positive for the environment, represent, and obtain credit for, the house and exercise at the same time.
Last Friday was World Car-Free Day, promoted by the United Nations.
On Thursday, tomorrow, it is TBSHS’ Active Travel Day.
Active Travel is where physical activity is encouraged as part of travel. This can involve cycling, running or walking instead of, or alongside, the use of public transport. This is an alternative to the use of a car.
Tomorrow, students of TBSHS have an opportunity to jog or run to school.
Planning is important. Students taking part must make sure they bring all items needed for Thursday’s lessons in this morning, Wednesday, and store them in their locker. This includes equipment, homework and books. Students will be expected to submit homework, and have the correct equipment, as normal on Thursday. As students participate, students should think about safe-keeping of valuables such as home and locker keys and mobile telephones in a small and sealed backpack.
Students can join the event at one of the following “Run Stops”. A teacher will arrive just before departure time. To participate, students must be on time.
As always, respectful and safe travel to school is vital. Take very good care when crossing all roads, looking all ways and never rushing. Do not cross by parked cars. Always stick to the path. Respect members of the public and give way to them. We represent the school and ourselves and families at all times.
When students arrive at school, they should make their way to the school hall to register house participation.
If students engage in this brilliant opportunity, students are allowed to wear P.E. kit for the whole day.
We are Black, Gold and Green.
