Thought For The Day – Tuesday 9^th January 2024

Thank you very much for the start you have made to the new calendar year.

Please continue to be respectful of the Year 13 examinations.

We remember Mr. Brian Edwards, who passed away on 9th January 2021, aged 84.

Current students and staff,  and former students,  paid their respects by attending Brian’s funeral, virtually at the time.

Brian was a member of Bishop’s Stortford Rotary Club. He contributed massively to our local community.   In his professional field of electrical and electronic engineering, and even more importantly by his wonderful family,  Brian was equally greatly respected and valued.

In particular for us here, Brian was vital in establishing the Interact Charity Group at TBSHS in 1991.  His legacy continues today.

Brian exemplified the warm, wise, giving, generous and graceful work of the Rotary Club, which continues each and every week at TBSHS and beyond.

The motto of Interact is “Service Above Self”, a maxim and value the Rotarians live out, and which Brian epitomized.

In the days leading up to Christmas, Rotarians collected an outstanding  £6710 in Bishop’s Stortford for those in need. TBSHS, at its bag packing activity, raised a brilliant £628.23.  Thank you, in year group order, to;  Felix, Reggie, Charlie, Dylan, Finley, Luca, Seth, Alessio, Bradley, Danny, Fiore, Filippo, Isaac, Fin, Matthew, Charlie, Fraser, Madi, Amy, Eddie and Sam who took part and made such a difference. These students helped others and represented the school.

As we begin a new calendar year, we never forget the legends of the past, including in our personal life also.

The best thing we can do is to pay their legacy forward, always looking out for, and looking after, others.
