Thought For The Day – Tuesday 9th December 2025
Advent Hope
On this winter today, we look forward to, hope for, and work towards, a brighter future.
We are currently in the season of Advent.
Advent is a season of reflection and hope.
Light, including the safe lighting of candles, symbolises this period.
Many will remember those who have passed away from this life, but whose love is always with us. Locally, there have been, and are, special “Lights of Love” events marking this.
Advent is an opportunity to reflect on this year so far, and to look ahead to the future.
Advent is an opportunity to think of those in need.
Advent calendars countdown to the 25th of December, taking every day at time.
Such daily observance is a good moral and practical message.
There is a brighter future.
The word “Advent” is derived from the Latin “adventus” meaning the arrival or coming of a notable event or person.
For Christians, Advent marks the countdown to, and preparation for, the coming, hope, light and love of Jesus Christ.
