Thought For The Day – Tuesday 8th November 2022
Past, Present, Future.
The Khafre Pyramid (pictured above) is one of the three ancient pyramids of Giza that date back 4,500 years. It was built to symbolize eternal life. The Khafre Pyramid has been lit up for COP 27, the “Conference of the Parties”, where countries will discuss climate change and the environment.
COP 27, held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, marks a key moment for the world. The welfare and wellbeing of the planet, and all those on it, is the foundation for everything and everyone everywhere and everywhen. A focus of the conference is “Together For Implementation”.
At TBSHS, we “think global, act local”. By doing our very, very best to be environmental and sustainable, by reducing, reusing, recycling in our daily lives and acts, we have the power to make a positive difference and to lead.
Our very appropriate school motto is “Respice, Aspice, Prospice”. This means “look to, and respect, the past, present and future.”
We think about the future and act with commitment, aspiration, respect, integrity and community in the present. The Black and Gold and Green Spirit.
We remember all who came before, all who sacrificed, suffered and served, and all who still sacrifice, suffer and serve, so we have opportunities today. Without them, we would not be here. So many others did not, and do not, have the gift of life we strive to make the most of, and give back to, today. Those who have inspired and loved will always inspire and love. We also remember the emergency services and the victims of terrorism. Poppies, increasingly ecological in their production and collection, will be available today.
Please wear your poppy out of remembrance and respect.
