Thought For The Day: Thursday September 15th
Remember and Inspire
We continue to witness history as the duty, devotion and selfless service of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is wonderfully remembered. We will be remembering together as a school community tomorrow. These historic moments you will always remember, reflect upon and share. The union flag at The Bishop’s Stortford High School, lowered by Site Manager Mr. Spilsbury last Thursday evening, continues to fly at half-mast. The photograph above was taken last evening.
Queen Elizabeth II now lies-in-state in Westminster Hall in the Palace of Westminster, the Houses of Parliament, ahead of the state funeral at Westminster Abbey, after her very moving, beautiful, symbolic and familial last journey yesterday from Buckingham Palace via Horse Guards Parade, the Cenotaph or National War Memorial and 10 Downing Street. A deeply symbolic, iconic and personal route:
We pay great tribute to all the numerous people and services involved in making these momentous and meticulous events happen.
Today is World Democracy Day, a day which values, and respects, everyone and gives people a respectful voice. The people now continue to pay their tributes to Queen Elizabeth II, resiliently queuing for hours and hours, days and days, travelling from, and queuing for, miles and miles, to pay their personal respects, throughout the day and throughout the night. Vitally, there are inclusive special access arrangements for people who are disabled, have particular needs and those who have long-term health conditions and mobility challenges. People can also pay their respects at home virtually. The people come from every culture and community, each person with their personal story, each with their own journey. We are one community and one world.
Inspirational and good people we know, and have known, are always, always remembered and always, always guide and inspire. “We will meet again.”
As with the events of the last few years, once again, as you have so wonderfully shown in these times, you will continue to demonstrate your truly excellent values, leadership and care for others. We all help and support one another in this good endeavour. By continuing to do your very best every day, as Queen Elizabeth II advised, inspired by her duty, devotion and selfless service, you will continue to spread love, service and hope.
Have a very good day.
