Thought For The Day – Thursday 9th May 2024
A Legacy of Love
The sun has almost set on the fourth week of this summer term. TBSHS, this evening, is pictured above.
This has been an emotional week as Year 11 and Year 13 students have had their final timetabled lessons, form times and assemblies, and transition into sitting their very important final examinations, which have begun, before formally leaving the school. Emotion, pride, professionalism, purpose and focus can, have and will all be shown.
Hopefully students, staff, carers, parents and families, always feel the school is with them wherever they go. Wonderful memories made last a lifetime, and beyond. These brilliant moments have a special place in our hearts.
And, though we will move to a wonderful new educational facility, that will safeguard the school’s future for many more generations beyond all of us, you, and all in the past, present and future, will always be the roots of the school.
For the next chapter, and indeed book, only makes sense, and in many ways exists, because of the previous one. Previous and current generations light the path for the future.
Moving to the next stage of our lives, remembering those that have inspired us, paying their legacy forward, and being the best version of ourselves, with humility, grace and care for others, is the sign of the character of a person.
Thiago Silva, of Brazil and Chelsea, recently released this authentic, beautiful, eloquent, emotional and thoughtful leaving video, which talks of “an indescribable love”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X5d-GH0Vok
He will return to his hometown club, Fluminense, in Brazil. A legend returns home, to his roots.
Thiago Silva is a Christian. On a whole other theological and spiritual dimension, many Christians today remember Ascension Day, when Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, encouraging people to proclaim, and live out, the Gospel (of Love).
Living out a care, and love of, others, treating others as wish to be treated, is something all ethical, moral and religious ways of life have in common.
Have a very good evening.
