Thought For The Day – Thursday 23rd November 2023
Thanksgiving
Today, and this weekend in the United States of America and Canada, is Thanksgiving.
People celebrate and reflect on who, and what, they are grateful for.
This festival originated in celebrating the harvest and giving thanks for the blessings of the last year. It also marks the last family gathering before Christmas.
And though there is a big retail day on Friday, which, years ago, and perhaps still now, those working in the midst of it did not like the stress of, we remember that true happiness is found in experiences, love, moments and the essentials of life, not necessarily more possessions.
It’s the little things in life that make the biggest difference.
At TBSHS, we can take this opportunity to reflect, with an attitude of gratitude, on who and what we are appreciative of and thankful for.
That starts with family, carers, friends, community and school. Who and what do we appreciate? Do we say thank you?
We are certainly very appreciative of, thankful for, such an incredible, outstanding and wonderful production and performance of “Oliver!” this week, which is creating such inspirational and magical experiences, memories and moments for all. More tomorrow.
We are also very grateful too for all the sports opportunities and fixtures organised at TBSHS. In the month of November alone, this is in the 70s.
Tonight, at their staff, student, parent and carer consultation evening, as well as reflecting on academic progress in class, we say thank you to all the Year 12s who joined the TBSHS’ Sixth Form in such record-breaking numbers and are enhancing the school.
“The season starts after Thanksgiving” is popular motto in American Football, games of which feature on the festival, as teams change from pretenders to contenders at a key point of the season. The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to progress well. Representatives of the team and organisation visited us in October and the “Let’s Go” video of their visit is here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cyv2NAHowQ8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
