Thought For The Day – Thursday 20th July 2023
One World, Many Stories
Good luck and thank you this evening to all those telling stories they have created at House Drama.
From 18 July until 17 August the U.K. celebrates South Asian Heritage Month.
South Asia is comprised of eight countries: Afghanistan; Bangladesh; Bhutan; India; The Maldives; Nepal; Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
South Asian culture has greatly enhanced and enlightened the UK with millions of people of South Asian heritage living in Britain.
This month celebrates and recognises the contributions communities of South Asian heritage have made to the UK. It encourages and empowers identity and pride. The theme this year is “Stories To Tell” which shares and hears inspirational and wonderful stories of diverse and vibrant communities.
Empowerment, identity, inspirational and wonderful stories and pride will certainly be a theme of the Women’s Football World Cup, being held in Australia and New Zealand, which begins today. It certainly was an exciting season in the Women’s Super League in England, with the Chelsea of Emma Hayes O.B.E. winning the league and Football Association cup, in a very close finish. Can the Lionesses repeat their brilliant and inspirational triumph of last summer in the Euros? A world cup wallchart, from CBBC, is attached.
We listen to one another’s stories. We are one world, diverse and united.
