Six TBSHS Students set to Study Medicine
University Beckons for our Medics
Congratulations to Ed Moulton (Dentistry), Omar Ahmati, Georgi Petkov, Rohan Rana and Jack Willis (all Medicine) on gaining conditional offers to study at a range of universities including Sheffield, Cambridge, Imperial, KCL, UCL, Exeter and Birmingham.
Ivor Price who took a gap year has gained a place to read Veterinary Science at Bristol. Their success is all the more to be applauded in what has been the most competitive year ever with the offer acceptance rate at 16% as opposed to the more normal 25%.
Rohan and Georgi have run student-led MedSoc during their time in TBSHS Sixth Form.
Fiona Price, TBSHS Post-18 Co-ordinator, commented With the competition for places on Medicine, Veterinary and Dentistry courses the highest it has been in recent years, it is wonderful to see these 6 students receive conditional offers to study these intense vocational courses. Building on their excellent science teaching, they have also exploited all the additional opportunities available to them to develop relevant insight, work experience and reflection, so as to prepare strong applications and perform well at interview. They have particularly benefitted from the in-school MedSoc that they ran. As well as congratulating these students on their fantastic achievement, I particularly want to commend our other medic, veterinary and dentistry applicants for all the hard work they put into their applications in this most difficult of years. I know that those not successful this time round have plans to build on their next steps to pursue their aspirations either after a Gap Year or as a post-graduate. I look forward to welcoming them all back into school to help support future health professional applicants.
