Thought For The Day: Monday 5th September 2022
A Great Start
Welcome back. It is very, very important we make an excellent start today.
Manners, resilience, respect, responsibility, rigour, literacy and oracy are essential at The Bishop’s Stortford High School.
From the curriculum to the extra-curricular, in the school and in the wider community, in your uniform and in your engagement and actions, the standard is the standard.
What are your goals today, tomorrow, this week, this term and this year?
We are very fortunate to work in such a great school. This was evidenced in record results in the summer for last year’s Year 11 and Year 13 and every single thing, however seemingly big or small, everyone in the school does. This only happens because every single person associated with the school plays their part and gives their very best. It does not happen by accident, is not automatic and should not be taken for granted. Hard work, humility, learning, continual improvement and care. Teamwork makes the dream work.
Thank you very much to Year 7 and Year 12 for setting the tone on Friday and on Saturday morning. An equally warm “Black and Gold” welcome to all our new staff. Thank you to all our new parents for their support. You will not regret being at TBSHS.
Today is International Charity Day. The global focus of this day from the United Nations is on eradicating poverty. Charity means “the giving of time and help to others, particularly those in need.” Charity too is at the heart of school and society. We look out for, and support, others.
Time to shine. Have a good day. Make a great start. Let’s go.
