Thought For The Day –  Monday 30^th September 2024

The word momentum is derived from the Latin words movere and movimentum, “move” and “to move”.

As we reach the last day of September, and move into the colorful Autumn and Harvest of October, we can reflect on our beginning to the academic year, and the momentum generated, in our outstanding new school.

We have moved to our new school facilities.

We are moving in our new school facilities.   

Moving is a verb, a doing word.  It involves change.

We should all be proud of this historic September at TBSHS.

The leaders of the new school project should be even more proud.

We are so very fortunate to have this positive opportunity.

So very fortunate locally, nationally and globally.

For sure, as with anything in life, there are always challenges. 

And nothing stands still.  

But, the fact that something is required of each of us in different situations gives us an important leadership role, keeps us grounded and humble, ensures we care for, and support, one another, and makes us appreciate things even more.

Challenges can come from any direction, and at any time.

We certainly did not expect for there to be no power and water in our immediate local vicinity on Friday, but, calmly, resiliently, warmly and wisely led, students, parents and staff responded brilliantly.

The true test of a team is how it responds to challenges and how it respects, and looks after, others.

Of course, for some people in life, their daily challenges are beyond words to describe. We always keep that deeper perspective.

But it is our care, local,  positivity and forward momentum, with the invaluable support of others, which keeps us moving forward.   Together.

Resilience, responding and positively bouncing back to challenges, with wider support, has always been integral to “The Black and Gold Spirit”.

This was seen in our House Rugby event on Saturday. 

Thank you all the students who represented, and supported, their house, and thank you to organizing and supporting staff, students and parents.  This was another wonderful day in the sun.
