Thought For The Day – Monday 27th April 2026
The Stage Is Set
Good luck to Year 10 students who are commencing their internal examinations this week.
Students will line up in silence for their examinations outside the Sports Hall.
This is a good moment to “lock in” further to be calm, collected, composed, and concentrated. To promise yourself, and your family, and school, that you will give your best. Doing your best is always good enough.
The same applies to Year 11 students in the days to come. Year 11 sit their G.C.S.E. Languages Oral Examinations later this week.
The examiners do not know who students are. Students need to show knowledge, understanding, and evaluation. Students need to provide evidence. This evidence is remembered from: lessons; homework; revision; literacy and reading; many years in education; and staff and family guidance.
Resilience, with support, remains important. Never, ever give up – students will be closer than they think.
We think of waiting in line on Results Day and make a difference to that level and grade now in a healthy and holistic manner. It is only ever too late when that particular examination paper is submitted.
As we saw with the London Marathon yesterday, everyone’s journey is equal but different. But everyone participates with a unique purpose and a story.
A most important aspect is to respect the examination room situation by following the rules. There are no second chances if an error is made here. Thank you to the brilliant invigilators.
School is not just about examinations. The extra-curricular is empowering, enriching, life-changing and vital. But it is extra. Academic and vocational subjects are the core and foundation.
In all this, we must not forget to respectfully enjoy what we do, where appropriate. Enthusiasm, good humour, passion, positivity, and smiles make a massive difference. Looking after others too.
All the above is very good preparation for life.
And we must always keep a wider local, national, and international perspective regarding those suffering.
The caretakers are currently preparing the venue.
The stage is set. Let’s go.
