Thought For The Day – Friday 24th April 2026
Giving Our Best
In the second picture above: The Sports Hall for Year 10 examinations last year.
Although there were a number of coursework assessments in the last few weeks and months, the final examination season has begun.
And so have the all-important final preparations.
Today, the G.C.S.E. Year 11 Art examinations, separately sat, continue.
Next week, Year 11 G.C.S.E. Languages Oral Examinations will take place.
Year 10 students have begun their “pre-mock” examinations with Art, separately sat, and Drama this week.
These Year 10 examinations will continue next week. These are important examinations to set up the future and gain valuable training. The same applies to forthcoming Year 7, 8, and Year 12 examinations. For these students, next season begins now.
In the coming days, and weeks, further G.C.S.E., Advanced Level, Vocational, and Sixth Form examinations be sat.
And, whilst school life is holistic, offering a plethora of wonderful opportunities and skills, assessments and examinations have been, and will always be, a very important measure, an exciting challenge, and an opportunity to demonstrate love, and passion, for subjects and learning.
In all the above, good application, attitude, character, preparation, revision, and delivery (including literacy, proofreading, answering the question, and demonstrating what you know to examiners) will be key. Students find their process and trust it.
As well as students taking personal responsibility and being pro-active, students should listen to the professional advice, experience, and coaching, of staff. Staff know the course and distance.
Never give up. It is only ever too late when that particular examination paper has been submitted. Resilience remains important.
We always remember everyone’s journey, and progress, is different and personal, both in examinations and indeed in life. The quotation above speaks to that.
Ultimately, we do, and give, our very best, looking after ourselves and others in the process, staying balanced and healthy, staying humble, and keeping a wider life perspective
The other “golden rule” is to fully respect the examination situation and follow the instructions of the Examinations Team at T.B.S.H.S. to the letter.
