Thought For The Day – Monday 13th March 2023
Science Week
U.K. Science Week is a wonderful opportunity to show our respect for science in this county, and beyond.
As the response to the global pandemic further demonstrated and highlighted, science is vital discipline and activity to ourselves and our environment.
Mr. Smith, Head of Science at TBSHS, wisely and wonderfully reminded us in Mr. Stark’s excellent assemblies last week, that women scientists led that outstanding scientific, medical and health response.
Science is the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation, experimentation, and the rigorous testing of theories against the evidence obtained.
Science discovers, questions and analyses the world and the universe, deeply considering, discussing. reflecting and testing, from evidence, how and why things happen, with integrity.
As such, science is exciting, engaging, enjoyable, enlightening, empowering and essential.
Science improves and saves lives and the environment. It is paramount and integral.
Thank you to all who teach, and support, science, and all scientific subjects, at TBSHS, including the wonderful laboratory and support staff.
Very appropriately, the great Sir David Attenborough’s latest series of programmes began last evening.
