Thought For The Day – Friday 4th November 2022
Thank You
Congratulations to Year 7 for wonderful House Debating in the school library yesterday.
The winning speech advocated the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King. The opening words were “I have a dream”.
All Year 7 speakers performed brilliantly as they presented on other inspirational people, supported by a great audience, including students, Mr. Sadler, Head of Year, and the Year 7 pastoral team.
Thanks to all the debating staff, who give so generously of their time, and give such wise and encouraging council, debating is an outstanding feature of TBSHS. TBSHS is highly regarded across the country for debating.
Respectful debating and discussion is a key aspect of education, society and democracy.
Whether it be with staff who have joined TBSHS, or students in Year 12 and Year 7, the future is excellent. We look forward to spreading this message at Sixth Form Open Evening on Wednesday.
Past, present and future, “The Black and Gold Spirit” is timeless. Like Reverend Dr. King, we can make dreams reality.
Thank you very much for all your continued positive contributions to subject oracy and literacy and extra-curricular activities this week. In classwork; in homework; in Year 11 and Year 13 mock examination preparation; in sports fixtures and practices; in school production rehearsals after school; in music practices and concerts; in your support of The 2022 Poppy Appeal, your wonderful work continues.
This is all very much appreciated and not taken for granted. Thank you to all staff and parents for all the vital work they do.
Finish well today. Keep improving, keep working, keep caring. Please stay safe, legal, moral and kind this weekend and think of yourself, and others, including animals and the environment.
