Thought For The Day – Friday 20th September 2024
Past, Present, Future.
We were delighted to host former student Andrew Lewin this week as part of the Sixth Form Citizenship programme.
Andrew was very impressed with the new school.
Andrew attended TBSHS between 1998 and 2005 and was, and is, an outstanding citizen.
At TBSHS, Andrew particularly excelled at his academic subjects, especially Politics A-Level, cricket and debating. A fine mix of pursuits.
Andrew became the first ever former student to be elected to the House of Commons as a Member of Parliament in July 2024.
Andrew serves the constituency of Welwyn and Hatfield, his home area.
Andrew first stood for Parliament in the 2010 General Election.
Andrew gave a balanced, broad. fair, inclusive, neutral and representative short presentation to Year 12 and Year 13 students, followed by time for student questions.
Andrew remembered his roots in his presentation, thanking his teachers and the school.
Andrew’s willingness to return once again (his last visit was in 2018) speaks volumes of and for him.
It look Andrew nearly twenty years to achieve his aspiration and dream.
It took TBSHS nearly twenty years to achieve their and our aspiration and dream with our new school and facilities.
Andrew will continue to progress.
As we will here.
Andrew was a most appropriate guest, as we “look to, and respect, the past, present and future”, following our school motto.
We wish Andrew well and thank him for his inspiration.
We pay tribute to: all our former staff; and former students, their parents and families.
We stand on their shoulders.
Have a good and safe weekend, when it arrives.
Thank you to all staff leading teams, and students participating, as they represent the school and “The Black and Gold Spirit” this weekend.
