Thought For The Day – Tuesday 15th October 2024
The Cost of Loving
As we departed for our summer holidays at the end of last term, Mr. Reeve encouraged us to be mindful of those in our community, and around the world, for whom the summer would be a significant challenge.
It is something we should never forget:
always being conscious of is thinking about, and acting for, those in need;
putting ourselves in the shoes of others;
valuing the vulnerable;
thinking about how we would feel in every situation;
treating others as we wish to be treated.
Because people can have health challenges, mental and/or physical.
Because people can have economic and environmental challenges.
Because people can have all these.
As regards the latter, the “cost of living” has increased.
In response, the cost of loving meets, and goes beyond, this massive challenge, as people, and their environment, are cared for and looked after.
If one person struggles, we all struggle.
Tomorrow is World Food Day.
The theme for World Food Day 2024 is: “The right to foods for a better life and future”. This highlights he immediate and long-term benefits of prioritising access to safe and nutritious food for all.
Thursday is World Eradication of Poverty Day.
The theme for World Eradication of Poverty Day 2024 is: “Ending Social and Institutional Maltreatment: Acting together for just, peaceful and inclusive societies”.
In our brilliant new school, we think of, and act for, others.
We will be once again collecting new items for our local food bank, who do outstanding work. The items are below. No nuts please. Please bring your items to Room C05 by next Wednesday. We will also accept any financial donations, which will be passed on to our local food bank.
