Today, at The Bishop’s Stortford High School, we give a true “Black and Gold” welcome to: our new staff; our new Year 7 and Year 12 students; and our new carers, guardians, and parents.

We thank all these staff, students, and families for choosing us.

We very much look forward to reading the books, chapters, songs, and verses, crafted by their character(s), they will individually, and collectively, compose and create.

Whether in, or out, of school,  we walk the path of life together:  looking after others, and ourselves; treating others as we wish to be treated; always being mindful of those experiencing challenges in life; showing compassion, empathy, fairness, humility,  love, and understanding.

The Bishop’s Stortford High School is the story of those who have gone before. It is also the on-going story of those who go now and in the future.

At home, in community, in school, each generation builds on, learns from, and is indebted to, the positive legacy they were bequeathed.

Our School motto is a wonderful guide for life:  Respice, aspice, prospice.  This Latin motto means:  “Look to, and respect, the past, present, and future”.

In this endeavour, we are all mindful of our wider responsibilities, and of the importance of giving back to others.  Service above self.

We hope those joining our school today have very many happy times at The Bishop’s Stortford High School, both this academic year, and beyond.

Positive memories will be made.

T.B.S.H.S. will be a reliable and resilient rock.

Students in Years 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13, who will be casting their mind back to their first day at The Bishop’s Stortford High School, will be making their final preparations at home for their new season which formally commences, for them,  tomorrow.
