Thought For The Day – Wednesday 20th March 2024
Legacy of Love
Today is Sixth Form Charity Day
The girls and young women will be respectfully dressed as soldiers.
The boys and young men will be respectfully dressed as pink fairies.
The reason for this goes back to two brilliant students who, Caroline and Alex, who both passed away whilst they were in the sixth form of TBSHS. Caroline passed away in June 2008. Alex passed away in November 2009. Both students joined TBSHS in the sixth form. A reminder of our wider community in the sixth form. They were truly “Black and Gold”. Caroline’s favourite colour was pink and Caroline was known as “Fairy Caz”. Alex was an army cadet. Today we think of them and their families.
The sixth form students who set up this day many years ago, and since, decided to swap what each sex and gender wore. The day also has the very important aspect of challenging sex and gender stereotypes. That is very important at TBSHS and everywhere. Money is raised for charity as part of the day.
Further, and very importantly also, today, and every day, we also remember the wonderful students, and their outstanding families, who have passed away in their time at TBSHS. We remember Albie and Will, two outstanding students who will always be at the very heart of “The Black and Gold Spirit”. We will remember Will and Albie personally in the coming days and weeks.
Those students who passed away when at TBSHS, and their families, are the school. They will always be the school. They are “The Black and Gold Heart”.
We never forget those former students, and their families, who have passed away since leaving TBSHS.
We always keep in our thoughts, and support, those who have suffered, or are suffering, illness whilst at TBSHS, or since they have left TBSHS.
For those we love always inspire us.
We keep their legacy of love going.
Inspirations, always.
TBSHS has a history.
Just as we do.
We look forward to a colourful, community day with colour, happiness, inclusivity, respect and remembrance.
