Thought For The Day – Tuesday 17th June 2025
Pride Month
T.B.S.H.S. always was, always is and always will be a spectrum of colour, diversity, integrity and respect.
June is Pride Month.
The theme for this year is “action for social change”.
Although there are always a number of catalysts and causes to and for anything life, to a certain extent the origins of Pride can be traced to the Stonewall Inn, New York City, on 28th June 1969, , where, and when, members of the LGBT+ community were abused.
Peaceful protests followed, in the United States of America, and around the word. The first Pride demonstration in the U.K. was in 1972.
The title of Pride was most apt, for it is celebrated ,and celebrates, people being proud in their identity and experience.
Today, although the journey is ongoing, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is integral to communities and societies.
As it always was. As it always should have been. As it always should be. As it always will be.
Because we treat people as we wish to be treated.
The Library at T.B.S.H.S. are giving a wonderful opportunity this month to review their Pride section.
This is also a good opportunity to remind ourselves of our thoughtful “Equality Values”.
