Thought For The Day – Thursday 3rd April 2025
Your Shout
It was wonderful for TBSHS to host Amelia Reynolds from “BBC Look East” and ”BBC Politics East” recently.
Amelia is a highly respected journalist, presenter and reporter of over twenty years.
Amelia was treated for breast cancer in 2021.
Her excellent Sunday morning programme is broadcast at 10.00 a.m. on Sunday mornings on “BBC East”.
Amelia’s creative introductions are particularly legendary.
As is Amelia’s respectful and rigorous interview style.
It was brilliant that last Sunday, students were given the opportunity to be part of last Sunday’s programme: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0029mcx/politics-east-30032025
Thank you to Amelia, Jonny and camera operator, the Sixth Form and all students who gave their views on issues they wished to raise from: standing up against racism and sexism; to mental health awareness; the National Health Service; agriculture and farming; and relations with the European Union. These students spoke and prepared well.
It was a great honour to host Amelia and Jonny. They were as outstanding off camera as they were on it.
They were both very complimentary about the students and TBSHS. This, of course, reflects totally on them and their goodness.
Local and regional broadcasting is an absolutely vital feature of our country. It brings people to issues and issues to people.
In the episode of 23rd March, there were some very interesting points made by the citizens of Bishop’s Stortford, in interviews the programme conducted prior to their visit to us on Tuesday 18th March: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0029c71/politics-east-23032025?seriesId=unsliced
On the episode of 16th March, Amelia’s programme tackled a particularly relevant issue: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckgn8mz44jmo
In her presentation at TBSHS, amongst other things, Amelia spoke about the importance of political balance on programmes as people make their own mind up.
What issues do you appropriately and respectfully feel strongly about locally, nationally and internationally?
And why?
