Thought For The Day – Thursday 25th January 2024
The Second Half
Congratulations to the First XI Football Team. 3 goals down at half time, in their county cup quarter-final yesterday, they came back to win the game and match by four goals to three.
The team kept going, they never gave up. They demonstrated calmness, composure, resilience, respect, responsibility and pride. Even without the result, these values would have been totally enough, as Year 8 students showed in reaching the last sixteen schools in the country of the national competition.
As with many things, sport can be a metaphor for life itself, whether it be a day, a year or a particular moment.
Year 11 and Year 13 students are focusing on their second half now with their examinations. Some students will be happy with their first half performance this academic year. Other students will want to improve in the second half, making those all-important seemingly small, but very significant, adjustments in diet, focus, life routine, practice, preparation, support networks, rest, sleep, tactics and training.
There is still all to play for. We look forward to the Year 13 Parent, Student and Staff Consultation Evening tonight and greatly value precious feedback given and the wonderful hard work and massive support of all. We remember to enjoy, and show passion in and for, our learning and to make it us.
Everyone is looking to continue their learning journey, inside and outside of class and school, in this second half of this academic year. Year 10 and Year 12 are carefully setting the table for next year, Year 8 and 9 are deeply thinking about their futures. Year 7 are making the most of their vital first year, on which everything is built.
In life, the heart, body and mind needs equally looked after.
There are, and will be, significant challenges. Some people experience very challenging situations beyond words.
We know who we are, what we bring, what we give, who and what inspires us and our story. Everyone is precious and valued. We strive to be the best version of ourselves, encouraging others to be the best version of themselves.
For, in our personal and collective journey, our foundation is our values, looking after ourselves and looking after others.
