Thought For The Day – Thursday 19th December 2024
Christmas Kindness
Bishop’s Stortford Rotary Club greatly thank the following students for raising £997 bag packing, in school uniform and santa hats, for a total team duration of six hours on Sunday.
Money raised is converted to vouchers for those in need at Christmas. Rotary work one year ahead in their main fundraiser.
Students who volunteered in order of time slot (where they were all punctual) and alphabetical first name were: Alexander (Year 7), Daisy (Year 12), Euan (Year 12), James (Year 12), Robert (Year 12), Emaelia (Year 12), Guy (Year 8), Nathan (Year 8), Scarlett (Year 12), Sophie (Year 12), Alex (Year 9), Eray (Year 8), Fraser F. (Year 10), Harry (Year 10), Isaac (Year 10), Ben (Year 7), Lucca (Year 9), Oscar(Year 9), Zac (Year 7), Fin (Year 11), Fiore (Year 10), Fraser H. (Year 7), Gregor (Year 9), Ollie (Year 9), Rafael (Year 7) and Theo (Year 7).
We were also very grateful for the great support of Rotarians and supermarket staff, including sixth formers Mia-Jane and Amelie.
We wished customers a Happy Christmas, regardless of whether they had their bag packed or donated.
A simple smile, and a genuine good wish, giving attention and time, really is priceless.
Everyone matters.
We treasure such, and all other, moments of kindness and thoughtfulness.
This is what life is all about.
We dedicate this activity to all in need this Christmas, holiday and festive season.
We know that this is not an easy time for many and that many have challenges.
Whether in school, at home, in the community or in life, we are there for, checking in on, helping and reaching out to, each other.
The seemingly little things have the biggest and the greatest impact.
Heart speaks to heart.
