Thought For The Day – Thursday 18th January 2024
Back To The Future
It is always interesting, and inspiring, to hear from former students, people who have walked the path you, and we, are walking now.
There are many great stories from numerous former students.
In Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday morning, David politely and respectfully introduced himself. David left many years ago. At school he was a great leader of “The Black and Gold Spirit”, particularly in sport, where he was a captain.
After TBSHS, David studied at Westminster College, particularly renowned for its catering course. Now, a number of years on, he owns a fruit and vegetable wholesaling business in London. He employs, and manages, some sixty staff and enjoys time with his family.
David was very, very grateful for everything he learnt at the school. He felt TBSHS had been absolutely vital. In particular, he mentioned speaking in assemblies as giving him confidence, as well as the crucial role of his teachers. He is still in touch with students in his year group. The team was strong and timeless.
The fact that David, of his choice and initiative, communicated all these things on Saturday says everything about him and his outstanding character.
Thinking of others, showing reflection, respect, resilience and responsibility, is “The Black and Gold Spirit”.
Though there are always twists and turns and ups and downs, there are always very difficult and tricky matches, moments and seasons, some beyond words, what we do today forms, influences and inspires tomorrow.
If you, and we, are experiencing challenging times, always keep this long-term vision in mind and know that you, and, we are very important, precious, special and unique individuals and make, and will make, brilliant, inspiring, memorable and personal contributions.
