Thought For The Day – Thursday 15th October 2026
No One Left Behind
Tomorrow, Friday the 16th of October, is “World Food Day”.
The global theme of “World Food Day 2026”: “Innovate today. Nourish Tomorrow”.
This important message highlights the importance in technology in supporting agrifood systems, ensuring sustainable future access for all to nutritious food.
On “World Food Day” tomorrow, we give thanks for, all who provide food, including farmers, suppliers, those who work in catering. We reflect on, and act for, a world where everyone has access to nutritious food. We are blessed to have such care and provision in our homes, in our communities, and, thanks to the wonderful Mr. Cooper and his brilliant team, at The Bishop’s Stortford High School.
However, we are very conscious and mindful of not everyone is so fortunate. The impact of this is devastating and beyond words.
Very appropriately, and in many ways linked to the United Nations’ theme of the day before, Saturday, the 17th of October, is “The International Day for The Eradication of Poverty”.
The important global theme for this day 2026 is: “United for Peace and Human Rights: Safe Homes for All”.
This message highlights that unsafe, unaffordable, or insecure housing, and displacement, deepens poverty, and social exclusion.
We are inspired by all who care for others, working for inclusion and social, and environmental, justice locally, nationally, and internationally.
These inspirational people ensure no one is left behind.
This includes “Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank”, which we have been collecting items for this half-term. The deadline for donations is tomorrow, Friday, “World Food Day”, after morning registration in Room C05.
Thank you to all who have very generously donated to this wonderful local charity and organisation.
It is symbolic of so many charities around the world.
We always keep in mind, acting and caring for, and empowering, those in need.
No one left behind.
