Thought For The Day – Thursday 14th November 2024
The Heaviest Backpack
Have you ever carried a heavy bag? Do you carry a heavy bag?
This week is “Children In Need” week in the U.K. Earlier this year, the charity launched “The Heaviest Backpack” campaign.
The campaign uses the metaphor of “The heaviest backpack” to raise awareness about some of the burdens children carry in their emotional, and life, backpack.
Some of these challenges are visible, others are invisible.
Everyone has challenges. Some have more challenges than others.
This is a reminder to be sensitive to the experiences, journeys, needs and stories of others.
Be kind. We do not know what others are going through.
And we are always there for each other.
Our backpack is definitely lighter when it is shared, when we carry it together and when we take all or most of the contents out together.
At that point, it may even seem that we are not even carrying a backpack at all.
Caring, empathy, sharing, support, thoughtfulness and understanding is at the heart of the “Black, Gold and Green Spirit”. This is the far deeper, and more accurate, definition of true resilience.
