In challenging times, the kindness and care of others makes all the difference.

We show these values to others, just as we would wish to be treated similarly.

When times are difficult, these values are even more essential, though they should be there at any time.

Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank told the school this week that the charity is helping 200 people a week in Bishop’s Stortford.  Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank also has close relations with Harlow Food Bank which is helping 1000 people a week.

Jane Towns gave an inspirational assembly to sixth form last week (pictured below).   Jane will be speaking to other year groups too.  In the sixth form assembly, Jane ensured over half of the assembly stood up to represent the people, and families, including many of our own, being helped by Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank.  We pay great tribute to all our local leaders who work in such charitable community organisations.

Thank you very much to all who have been able to donate an item from the list below, especially at this time.  Jane and all at the Food Bank have greatly appreciated the support of The Bishop’s Stortford High School in recent times, including during the global pandemic, demonstrated by your certificates above. We will be collecting toys at Christmas.  The deadline for the Harvest and Autumn 2022 Collection will be Friday of next week.

Item list (no nuts please): Soup, pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes, pasta sauce, baked beans, tinned spaghetti, tinned meat, tinned vegetables, sponge puddings, tea, coffee, tinned fruit, biscuits, UHT milk, fruit juice, sugar, crisps, squash, toiletries such as deodorant, toilet paper, shower gel, shaving gel, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste and hand wipes, feminine products such as sanitary towels and tampons.  Baby supplies – nappies, baby wipes and baby food, household items such as laundry liquid detergent, washing  powder, bleach, antibacterial spray and washing up liquid.
