Thought For The Day – Monday 7th October 2024
Open Evening Week
Learning, progress and success is built day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year, generation by generation.
Ideas, ideals and plans become a greater reality. Art captures, and symbolizes, life. Vision and values.
In this process, there will always be challenges.
We are always mindful of all experiencing any difficulty, locally, nationally and internationally. We stay humble and thoughtful.
Week 5, which begins in school today, is another important week for us at The Bishop’s Stortford High School.
But, as well as outstanding learning continuing in lessons, with extra-curricular activities, on educational visits and in the wider community, we have our Open Evening on Thursday evening.
This will be a wonderful opportunity, following our Standards Evenings, to share our new school facilities with visitors who are prospective students, carers, guardians and parents of the school.
This will be a wonderful opportunity to talk with, learn from and show respect to our guests.
For, one of the signs of any good community, or any team, is how, and whether, others are respected, safely welcomed, listened to and learnt from.
We continue, for example, to very warmly welcome those staff, students, carers, guardians and parents who have joined the school this academic year. And we never forget those who have been with us previously.
As our new school facilities demonstrate, we are always looking to improve and learn.
Open Evening will also be another fabulous chance for students to demonstrate: engagement; leadership; manners; passion, positivity; respect; equal and smart uniform; values, whether that be: hosting as tour guides; communicating in departments; performing in the hall; assisting around the site generally; continuing to keep the school immaculate, helping the cleaners, this week.
These attitudes and skills are vital for your career and life.
Open Evening with be “The Black and Gold Spirit” in action once again.
Open Evening provides an opportunity for you to give back to the school, and wider community, and help others.
Every community, every school, is proud of their place and people.
We show respect today and every day to all safely travelling to their school and community.
We are appropriately, and humbly, proud of our place, people and community here at TBSHS.
