Thought For The Day – Monday 26th June 2023
Thank you
.
Today sees the final external and public examinations for this academic year.
Thank you for your conduct around the school in the past few weeks.
Thank you very much indeed to Mrs. Chan, Mrs. Pretious-White, Mr. Gunn, Mr. O’Sullivan and all our faithful and wonderful invigilators for meticulously organizing, setting up, supervising and sending off all these examinations.
This is such a responsible, respectful, rigorous and important job in a school, involving maximum concentration and communication with examination boards. We do not take this for granted.
Thank you very much to all students for their character, commitment, dedication, diligence, integrity, respect and resilience in all these examinations. The school values apply to everyone everywhere, including in examinations.
There are multiple, challenging and lengthy assessments across subjects which require preparatory knowledge, understanding and evaluation throughout the year and, very importantly, in the examinations themselves.
The key is that students did, and do, their very best and give their all.
As ever, thank you to parents, families and school staff, including primary school staff, for their brilliant support and hard work throughout the year and throughout the years, in all the seasons. We never forget our personal and collective roots and our history.
A passion for, an engagement with and the assessment of learning in academic subjects are a vital part of a school and key for future careers and lives.
Every student is on a different path of progress in different subjects. Lessons, assessments and examinations in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 prepare for this future. Thank you to all the students in these year groups for all their hard work throughout the year. Finish strongly in the next few weeks to set things up for next season.
The other aspects of education are being a good and thoughtful character and person and the extra-curricular dimension of school life which is an opportunity to give back and develop skills and attitudes. Look after yourself and others.
