Thought For The Day – Monday 10th June 2024
“Don’t Waste A Moment”
Continued very best wishes to students sitting very important external examinations. Let your light shine.
Very best wishes to students embarking on wonderful “Bushcraft”, work experience and educational visit opportunities this week. Thank you very much indeed to staff organisers and supervisors and carers, guardians and parents. As always, you should continue to represent the school and, even more importantly, yourself and your families well.
The rugby world, and beyond, united on Saturday to pay tribute to Rob Burrow C.B.E. At the rugby union Premiership Final, at Twickenham, there was heartfelt applause on the seventh minute of the match. (7 was the number Rob wore). Before the rugby league Challenge Cup Final, at Wembley, which symbolically kicked off at 3:07, there was a minute’s silence, after a very poignant signing of the traditional “cup final hymn”, “Abide With Me”. Applause on the seventh minute of the game followed. Both matches were a fitting tribute to Rob Burrow C.B.E.
For Rob Burrow, an outstanding and iconic rugby league player, the total catalyst, leader and heart and soul of brilliant, great and historic teams, and a Motor Neurone Disease (MND) advocate and champion beyond words, was loved by all. He transcended his profession. His is a legacy of immense and selfless inspiration, love and care. In the midst of unimaginable suffering, his first thought was to help, inspire and support others.
Rob Burrow was the very best of humanity, as were all who supported him. One of Rob’s quotes mentioned last week was about his wife, Lindsay: “It was an honour to be cared for by the only woman he had ever loved”, Rob said.
Sharing, and showing, care, compassion, emotion, humility, kindness, love and vulnerability shows a strength beyond words. On and off the field, in health and when not greatly suffering, Rob Burrow gave absolutely everything and was truly good and great.
Rob’s last message in this world was widely shared: “Every single day is precious. Don’t waste a moment” and “In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream”. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/cl44vdl5j67o
