Thought For The Day – Friday 8th September 2023
Words and Deeds
We hope you have had a good first week at TBSHS. We finish well today. We wish you a happy, healthy and safe weekend, when it arrives.
Today is World Literacy Day. World Literacy Day is a reminder about the importance, inspiration and opportunity of books, communication, literacy, oracy and reading, not only for us, but for everyone in the world. The theme this year is: “Promoting literacy for a world in transition: Building the foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies.” Literacy is life.
Today also marks one year since the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A truly historic, inspirational and remarkable lifelong leadership of selfless dedication, devotion, duty and service was remembered then, as it is remembered now and always. Through the changing seasons and years, to the very end of her life, Queen Elizabeth always found the right and moral words and deeds or actions.
For every family and friend, the anniversary of a loved one passing away is especially emotional, moving and poignant.
Those we love, and who inspire us, are and will be always with us and we are beyond grateful for them.
On the Friday before the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II last year, TBSHS held a special assembly, led by Mr. Reeve, at the top field, which included a period of giving thanks, reflection and remembrance.
Pictures above of Queen Elizabeth II were digitally created last year by Ezra, a now former student of TBSHS, who was in Year 13 last year.
