Thought For The Day – Friday 29th November 2024
Meaning of the Season
Thank you for your positive contributions this week. The photograph above was taken this morning.
A special mention to Year 7 students, and their families, for the wonderful beginning they have made to life at their, and our, new school.
It was a great pleasure to host students and families for their Consultation Evening last night, just as it was Year 12 students and families last week.
The “Black and Gold” torch has passed to this new generation.
Thank you very much Year 7 and Year 12.
We hope all the school community have a good weekend.
When we return to school, after today, on Monday, will be in the month of December.
In that time, we will be inclusively reflecting on, and thinking about, the Christmas season.
This commences with our wonderful and unique Christmas dinner on Tuesday.
On Tuesday also, the school community will have an opportunity to donate to those in need at Christmas (Bishop’s Stortford Night Shelter for the Homeless, Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank, and Rotary’s Christmas Collections for those in need in our local area) by wearing one festive item of clothing and by bringing in £1.
For whilst we enjoy our Christmas dinner, we think of others.
Our concern is always with the vulnerable.
Our action is always compassion to, and for, those in need.
We show solidarity with others, listening to their stories, being with them, walking with them.
For they are us and we are them.
At Christmas, and all year around, the important aspect is not what we get, but what we give.
And each gives what they can.
This is the inclusive meaning of the season.
