Thought For The Day – Friday 22nd May 2026
Local, National, Global

We wish all T.B.S.H.S. students, staff, and families, a happy, healthy, and safe half-term holiday.
We also greatly thank our Languages assistants, Miss. Herbig and Miss. Mouton, for their brilliant and outstanding work at The Bishop’s Stortford High School.
We always keep a wider and an international perspective, particularly thinking of those who suffer. Nationally, there will be a “Royal British Legion” commemoration for the 179 British service personnel who died, and the thousands who suffered injuries, in the Iraq war, upon the 15th anniversary of the war’s closure.
At The Bishop’s Stortford High School, today marks the final day of timetabled lessons for the Year 11 students of 2025 and 2026 at T.B.S.H.S..
In curricular, and extra-curricular, areas, students in this Year 11 team achieved local, national, and global recognition, whether it be in: academic subjects; sport; music; drama; debating; Interact charity; the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme; and House Events, Year 11 so often rose to the big occasion, whether it be the church services at Saint Michael’s Church, or the plethora of educational opportunities and visits offered by The Bishop’s Stortford High School.
We very much hope that this aspiration, respect, integrity, and commitment have continued, and will continue, in the G.C.S.E. examinations.
In any community, there are always people who show a particularly inspirational depth, dignity, respect, and resilience. Those people will always be our illuminating and guiding lighthouses.
The kind of person we are, and strive to be, is what ultimately matters.
Heroes are all around us, in our communities and neighbourhoods. Today is an excellent opportunity to thank those who make the journey possible: carers; family members; guardians; parents; friends; nursery, primary, and secondary school staff; community champions, coaches, leaders, and volunteers.
We also pay very great tribute to the pastoral leaders who have guided and inspired you: Dr. Coke-Woods; Mrs. Harris; Mr. Harvey; Miss. Butler; Mrs. Waldock; Form Tutors; the Learning Support team; and the careers education, led by Mrs. Jonas. We, of course, massively thank Mr. Reeve and the Senior Leadership Team of the one T.B.S.H.S. Ethos of “Black, Gold, and Green” “past, present, and future” at the two wonderful school sites Year 11 experienced. We never, ever forget the administration, caretaking, catering, and cleaning staff. So very many hours of care from so many behind the scenes.
Every person is a precious individual with an inspirational and a vital story. Thank you very much to:
