Thought For The Day – Friday 18th July 2024
Thank You For Everything
On our historic and final school day on London Road, after seventy four years, we thank all staff in every area, teaching, office and support, of the school, all students and all families for this academic year, and indeed for the many years before. The pictures above was taken last evening and this morning.
Our cleaners, Mrs. McCoig and Mrs. Stacey, will clean the school immaculately this evening, yet again, echoing a quote from Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King about pride in work beautifully done. Thank you to the caretakers and catering teams also for all their truly excellent work.
A school is a people and a community. Fabulous editions of “The Mitre” and “Final Assembly” summarise and symbolize another outstanding term. Thank you to everyone for everything.
We wish our Year 11 and Year 13 results every happiness on their forthcoming results days, and beyond.
Please stay safe over this summer, and continue to make healthy, inclusive, good, kind, moral, peaceful and respectful decisions (including on-line), always reaching out if support is needed, always looking after yourself and others. Values transcend place, space and time.
For you are precious, valued and valuable beyond words.
Everyone is unique, a beautiful individual, making a special contribution to others and the world. Everyone writes their fine chapter, and book, in life, as part of a wider story.
People are irreplaceable.
This particularly applies to staff who are leaving The Bishop’s Stortford High School at the close of this academic year. We pay the greatest tribute to these outstanding professionals, and people, for their service, and thank them for the captivating, compelling and engaging brilliance they brought to the school in: lessons; and through their academic subjects; in form time and pastoral care; in extra-curricular contributions and opportunities; in caring for, and supporting, everyone, including their colleagues; and in the type of inspirational and wonderful people they are. These staff came from near and far, and gave so diligently, devotedly and generously of their expertise and excellence in the morning, afternoon and evening, massively nurturing, enhancing and enriching this school and all of us. In the staff room, in the last few days, their staff colleagues paid very moving individual and personal tributes with special presentations in what always is the best training, and inspiration, for all staff. In listening attentively today to the personal and profound final assembly student speeches, in honour of these members of staff, delivered in order of length of service, commencing with the most recent, we pay tremendous tribute to these outstanding and wonderful people, and greatly appreciate and deeply reflect on, their superb and unique contribution to “The Black and Gold Spirit”, which will continue to inspire and always be remembered.
