Musician of the Year 2022
Yesterday evening (9th March), Owen Lee from Year 13, won the prestigious title of TBSHS Musician of the Year for the second time on piano.
Playing the Piano Sonata No.3 in A Minor by Prokofiev, Owen wowed the Adjudicator Mr Freddie Tapner with this beautiful and stunning rendition of the piece.
Praise indeed came when the adjudicator told Owen, that the only way that his piece could be improved, would be when he had more life experience.
Owen had already performed on trumpet after winning the Brass heat of the competition, playing Legende by Enescu.
Thomas Millar performed second on the electric guitar, followed by Finn Lihoreau on saxophone in the first of his two performances. Following Owen’s piano performance, Henry Davis, appearing for the first time in the Finalé Concert gave a lovely performance on the classical guitar. Jonny Brewer performed next on percussion followed by Finn in his second performance, this time on voice. Joe Lee gave the final performance of the competition, on strings before Freddie had the difficult decision of choosing the Winner, Highly Commended and Commended.
Congratulations to everyone who took part – it was a very high standard of competition this year, but extra congratulations must go to Owen for his outstanding winning performance.
