Thought For The Day: Tuesday September 6th 2022
Values
We hope you had a great beginning to the week and term.
Our school values inspire and guide all we do, whether it be in our literacy and oracy in lessons, in our extra-curricular and community contributions, or with the kind of person we are. Values are morals, principles and standards. What are your moral values in life?
Do you know our five school values from memory?
Our school values are – commitment, aspiration, respect, integrity and community.
Do you know what these words mean?
You will add further to the following:
Commitment is engaging, giving your very best, working hard, being resilient, leaving everything out there.
Aspiration entails good and positive standards, hopes, aims and goals.
Respect means thinking about other people, the environment and, to a good extent, ourselves (self-respect), treating others as we would wish to be treated, with manners, kindness, care, empathy and consideration, and not being prejudicial or discriminatory.
Integrity means honesty, truthfulness, justice, humility, reflection and doing the right thing.
Community involves working with, learning from, helping, thinking of, and giving back to, others.
More importantly, how do we individually and collectively show these values and put them into practice?
Ultimately, our values are verbs and they are actions.
Have a great day.
