Anti-Bullying Week – Choose Respect
This week is Anti-Bullying Week in the U.K.
Bullying is abusive, coercive (forceful, threatening) intentional, negative, persistent, unwanted treatment.
Bullying can be verbal, physical, emotional, sexual.
Negative prejudice and discrimination is also bullying.
Bullying is very, very wrong.
It is particularly heart-breaking to think any child suffers bullying, for example.
Young people, with their whole life ahead of them, particularly deserve the very best of environments, the very best of chances, the very best encouragement, respect and support.
Bullying can happen in any place and at any age.
Adults can also be the victims of bullying from other adults.
Bullying can be direct and/or indirect in person.
Bullying can be direct and/or indirect on-line.
Bullying and bullies can sometimes try and turn the problem on to the victim of bullying, or seek to trigger a response.
Exploitation, or taking advantage of people, treating people unfairly, is bullying.
The theme of this year’s Anti-Bullying Week is: ”Choose Respect”.
Look after others. Look after yourselves.
We treat others as we wish to be treated.
Let someone know if you are experiencing bullying. There is massive support. We walk the journey together.
We “choose respect”. This week and all weeks.
