Thought For The Day – Tuesday 7th January 2025
Past, Present, Future
Pictured above: Dawn breaks at TBSHS on the first day of the new term and new year. A cold morning but it is warm in our hearts.
We hope you, and your families, had a happy, healthy and giving holiday.
We know that this would not have been an easy time for many in our local area, in the U.K. and around the world, whether that be environmentally, psychologically and physically.
The seemingly smallest acts, and things, make the most difference both in this life, and beyond.
Look after others. Look after yourself.
The Romans named January after Janus, a mythological figure of two faces representing new beginnings, gateways and transitions. The idea is we look back and look forward.
Past, present and future.
Last term marked such a significant transition for the school to our new school facilities. We embrace, live and respect change.
Last week, aged 17, Luke Littler became the youngest ever world champion in darts. A few hours before this year’s final, Luke did something unusual. He watched back his final from last year, which he lost, identifying and highlighting key improvements he wished to make in the 2025 final. After his analysis, Luke said he had a vision, and a plan. He knew what he had to do.
What will be (y)our aspirations, goals, improvements and targets this year, this term, this month, this week and today?
In our and this journey, we never forget our roots, our background, our values, our history, other people and a wider perspective. We stay humble. The turn to the future in the present can only happen because of the past. Good luck to Year 13 commencing their mock examinations this week. Thank you, as always, to the examinations team.
