Thought For The Day – Tuesday 21st May 2024
A New Hope
Last Tuesday, governors and staff of TBSHS were given a guided and safe tour around the new school at Beaumont Avenue South.
It was a brilliant, and fantastic, experience, as we saw the exciting future being built.
To have a new room, or new area, in the school is always very exciting, but to have the opportunity to experience a whole new school is beyond outstanding.
Many in the U.K., and around the world, would love such an opportunity.
This is something very much for the school community, past and present, to look forward to. We will not forget the current Year 11s and Year 13s, working so hard now for their examinations here, and previous generations, on this journey.
Over twenty years ago, a group of governors, staff, parents and people from the school and wider community, led by former Headteacher Mr. Shaw, had the vision, values and drive to purchase and create Jobbers Wood. The path to this was far from straightforward, both in terms of finance and planning, but the vision, over many years, became reality. And so many have, and do, benefit.
Thanks to them then, and the Physical Education Department since and now, school sport massively flourishes. Without that decision over twenty years ago, we would not have Jobbers Wood today.
Similarly, and even more extensively, in terms of the sheer volume of work, attention of detail, years in the making and the breadth of vision. thanks to the inspirational leadership of Mr. Reeve, Mrs. Engel and governors and senior leaders past and present, and many in the local community, and beyond, and of course the builders and all working on the ground, our new school site, your new school site, wonderfully future-proofs the school for many generations to come.
