Thought For The Day – Thursday 7th December 2023
Mocks’ Magic
GCSE mock examinations begin today.
These are practice examinations for Year 11 students.
As the saying goes: ”Practice makes perfect”.
Good luck to Year 11 students who will follow the truly inspirational Year 11 students of the last couple of years and more in creating their inspirational legacy.
All students in the school need to follow the signs and be quiet around examination areas.
Mock examinations provide very important practice and feedback for students, as well as information for references. If absolutely necessary, as we saw a couple of years ago, they provide data examination boards can request if required.
The actual examinations in May will be here soon. Winter frost will soon turn to Summer warmth.
We sow the seeds of future growth today.
Assessments and examinations in all years prepare students for the future.
The most important aspect of assessments and examinations is conduct, integrity and respect. There are no second chances when it comes to not respecting assessments and examinations. It is an automatic red card in terms of that assessment and series of assessments.
The second most important aspect of assessments and examinations is doing our best, to leaving everything on the examination paper, answering the exact questions asked. There are no marks for blank spaces. Every mark matters. Students do not want to be one mark away from the next level on results day. Goal difference matters. Literacy is vital. As is character. Never give up. We are often closer than we think. Students should be positive and attack the paper, using many years of experience in education, in lessons, and in life.
Trust the process.
Take responsibility.
The foundation for all things is wellbeing. Good sleep, diet, food and exercise ensures our human battery is charged. Look after yourself and others. Keep perspective.
Christmas holidays is the reward for the resilience shown in doing GCSE mock examinations at this time.
Have no regrets at the end of the games, and respect officials and supporters. Make your family, community and yourself proud.
We are very grateful to Mrs. Chan and the Examinations Team, including invigilators who give so generously of their time.
Let’s Go. Mocks’ Magic.
