Thought For The Day – Monday 18th May 2026
Big Finish (To The First Half)
Public examinations have very much begun.
Last week was a very busy beginning for students. Up and down the country and around the world.
Thank you very much to Mrs. Chan and all invigilators at T.B.S.H.S..
With five school days to go until half-term, a big finish is required this week.
Like running at “House Sports Day”, students keep going, giving everything they can until the finish line is crossed.
Every step and every ounce of effort matters. Nothing is wasted.
As the examinations progress, students need to: keep preparing for, and reflecting on, their performance (for in-tournament adjustments can be made in future examination papers); stay fresh and healthy; dig deep; show character; do their best, respect the examinations; remember and respect the professional advice of staff; be positive; show passion for subjects and topics, offering the examiner maximum opportunity to give credit; promise to have no regrets when they collect their results in the Dining Hall on Results Day in August.
There will be plenty of time to take a very long, an extended, break after the examinations are complete. All public external examination results always must be declared on a curriculum vitae and employment application.
Very appropriately, Year 7 examinations commence today. This is an excellent opportunity for Year 7 students to get into very good habits for their future and positively showcase their wonderful attitudes and skills. Year 7 students will be allowed to use the excellent T.B.S.H.S.’ literacy tool below.
Year 8 and Year 12 students are preparing for their examinations next half term. Year 10 students, who are also preparing for their work experience, will reflect on their very important next steps in their G.C.S.E.’s at the Parental Consultation Evening this week. Year 9 students also have great forthcoming opportunities and will also keep standards very high.
All the above is summed up by “The Black and Gold Spirit”: doing our very best, looking after and respecting others; looking after and respecting ourselves.
Commitment, aspiration, respect, integrity, community. Resilience, support, and equality. Past, present, and future.
Thank you to: all carers, guardians and parents; all staff; and all students.
