Thought For The Day – Monday 17th March 2025
Faith, Hope, Love
Five (5) weeks until study leave for Year 11, six (6) weeks until study leave for Year 13. Relaxed but focussed. Make every day matter.
Today is Saint Patrick’s Day and belief in the Holy Trinity (God being three “persons” in one – the caring parent, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit marks the death of Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick spread the Christian faith. A symbol of Ireland is the shamrock. Patrick is said to have used the shamrock a metaphor for explaining Christianity). The three leaves of a shamrock are also said to stand for faith, hope and love. Sometimes, a four-leaf clover can be found. The fourth leaf is said to represent good luck.
At the very beginning of this month, March 1st, was Saint David’s Day. St. David, the patron saint of Wales, was a monk who spread the message of Christianity and encouraged followers to care for the natural world and the environment. Symbols of Wales are the dragon, the leek and the daffodil.
This is an important time of year for religions and spirituality generally.
We continue to think of Muslims showing great devotion in Ramadan.
Jews will be getting ready soon for Passover in a few weeks’ time.
