Thought For The Day – Friday 17th May 2024
5* Performance
< p class="x_MsoNormal">Well done to Year 11 who have shown great resilience, respect and spirit in the last eight days with a very busy start to their GCSEs. Keep on keeping on.
We continue to wish Year 11 and Year 13 well in their examinations, as we do for Year 7 next week.
A massive congratulations to Mr. Cooper and the catering team who were awarded the top mark, of 5*s, for food hygiene. A very fitting recognition for all they do every school day.
Next week, we will pay tribute to Mrs. Curtis and Mrs. Landers who are departing TBSHS after years of outstanding service. They have made a truly outstanding difference to all, over many years. Their legacy is unique and brilliant.
TBSHS tells real and true stories that mirrors life and is life. TBSHS creates positive memories that last a lifetime and beyond. TBSHS gives care, inspiration, nurture, standards and support.
It is special moments, and special people, in our lives that we always cherish and look back on and give us our hope, and motivation, for the future.
This weekend, three transformative leaders, in the sport of football, Emma Hayes, David Moyes and Jürgen Klopp, depart their clubs for new challenges. They have led and made history with their teams, at home and abroad. They have slightly different leadership and management styles, but each have been committed to excellence, creating inclusive, winning and champion cultures, making history and memories, given back to, and looking after, others in the community and humbly using their platform for good. Their successors will write their memorable chapter too.
Emma Hayes’ Chelsea have won fifteen titles in twelve years. When Emma Hayes was appointed, the matches of the Chelsea women’s team were attended by only a few hundred supporters. Emma Hayes professionalized the team, the game and the approach on and off the field, never forgetting to care along the way. A couple of weeks ago, the team’s stadium, with capacity for over 40,000 people, was sold out. Emma Hayes led the way in transforming women’s football and sport in the U.K. and led and managed, with drive, empathy, honesty.
Since the also thoughtful and quietly determined David Moyes returned to West Ham United in 2019, his team’s win record is 45%, taking the club to a European quarter-final, a European semi-final and Europa Conference League championship. Such consistency, professionalism, resilience, standards, success, and spirit, made their new stadium, the London Stadium, an outstanding home. In the pandemic, David Moyes supported elderly supporters with telephone calls and helped organize food parcels for those in need.
At his introductory press conference around eight and half years ago, after transformative managerial posts in Germany, Jürgen Klopp said: “We have to change from doubters to believers”. His Liverpool team won eight trophies, including the Champions League and a first English League Championship (Premier League) for thirty years. Beyond the game and match, Jürgen Klopp, with humour and perspective, stood up for others, engaging and connecting with the city of Liverpool, and beyond. As we reflect on these well-loved leaders and managers, we are inspired by, and cherish, those wonderful people around us.
